​The new home of the College of Art and Architecture creates a new gateway to the campus, conceived as a 100,000 sf loft space for formal and informal learning.

This new building at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) creates a gateway to the campus serving as a landmark expressing the new growth of this historical school, one of the Historic African-American Universities. This building is the new home of the College of Art and Architecture. It also houses a Cultural Center (research archives and museum of African-American History), spaces for Community Development and Construction Sciences, and an interdisciplinary satellite Business School.

 

The programs are studios for Architecture and Art, a library, computer labs, classrooms, and the presentation theater: a state-of-the-art facility for lectures, performances, and virtual large scale urban modeling. A long central 3 story volume connects all areas and rooms; it is used for informal meetings, student presentations and classes and to encourage communal life of the school.
